Commitment to Community Service

Whitehurst, Harkness, Brees & Cheng, P.C. has a long history of community service. Our personal injury attorneys and staff donate time, talent, and money to numerous non-profit organizations in Austin and surrounding areas of Texas.

One of our firm’s foremost priorities is its long-standing relationship with Sanchez Elementary School, which we support through the Austin Independent School District’s Communities in Schools program. Our firm has contributed funds to help build the school’s playground, and our employees have mentored individual students by visiting them weekly during the school year.

Central to our code of ethics is the contribution of legal services to the poor. Our personal injury attorneys have long been active with Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas, Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid (formerly Legal Aid of Central Texas), and other organizations devoted to pro bono activities and equal access to justice. Our attorneys are also active on the boards of many other bar-related organizations, from the Austin Young Lawyers Association to the American Board of Trial Advocates.

The involvement of our personal injury attorneys in the Austin, Texas, community extends far beyond the legal field. Because we are also all members of the local community, our attorneys and staff have taken active roles in many community organizations, including the Travis County Democratic Party, the Austin Children’s Museum, Leadership Austin, El Buen Samaritano, AIDS services of Austin, the Austin Children’s Shelter, the Austin Police Department Civil Defense Battalion, the Austin Police Department Search and Rescue volunteer program, local churches, and numerous youth soccer, baseball, and basketball teams.
